Aliso Canyon

The goal of Aliso Canyon planning is to preserve its beauty and serenity and make it accessible in ways that do not compromise its dramatic landscapes.  Aliso Canyon is best enjoyed by visitors leaving light footprints.

As part of the Ranch renovation, the hotel, restaurants, and related facilities have been remodeled and improved without creating the impacts of previously presented redevelopment proposals.  The improvements are greatly appreciated and the use and enjoyment of the amenities and golf course has increased.

Remaining issues related to Aliso Creek are:

  • route for a public trail connecting the Aliso and Wood Canyon Wilderness park to Aliso Beach.  Status:  The Ranch has deposited funds with the City of Laguna Beach to plan a trail, but no action has been taken on this work.
  • restoration of an estuary at the mouth of Aliso Creek inland of the highway

  • Army Corps of Engineers’ proposals for managing the flow of Aliso Creek—including removal of natural vegetation and concrete construction along the course of the stream.
